Spotty's escape

"Get down here at once!" Balanandaswami shouted.

Spotty froze in fear. Krackaswami had managed to get up to the top of the next tree and was threatening to jump over.

Meanwhile, back at his cave, Med Tiger was trying to meditate. He was having no success because every time he closed his eyes, he saw Spotty's face. He was starting to wonder if it was not good to care so much for the little cub, if it was going to make self-enquiry impossible.

Med Tiger decided to give up trying to meditate for the moment. He came out of the cave.

Something compelled him to run a a certain direction. Suddenly he saw a terrible sight! .... the three swamis intently focussed on a tiny bluebird. Instantly, Med Tiger realized who that little bird must be. He also realized that it had been Bhagavan himself "interrupting" his meditation with Spotty's face.

"Leave that bird alone!" he shouted.

But Krackaswami turned in his treetop with a firepot, threatening to throw it down on Med Tiger if he did not leave at once. Where on earth had that firepot come from?

The three lion cubs came along just then, also looking for Spotty. They saw a most amazing sight!

Spotty's fear, when he saw his very dear Med Tiger being threatened, vanished instantly. In that moment, he knew just what to do. He transformed himself into a huge eagle and swooped down on Krackaswami and snatched the firepot out from between his paws.

The swamis were so startled that they all lost their balance and tumbled down upon each other in one big clawing snarly heap.

"Phew!!" said Spotty. "Now what? They'll uncramble demseffs any minute and then they'll be after me again!"

Omcub leaned forward and whispered something to Spotty.

Spotty took Omcub's advice and quickly made himself look very Omcubish.

Tiru picked up the firepot.

And dunked it into a nearby stream so it could not cause any harm.

The swamis untangled themselves and came snarling over.

"Alright! Which one is Spotty? Which one is the fake?"

The word fake, spoken in that tone by Balanandaswami, in connection with one of the cubses, caused Mum Lioness to spring down from a high ledge.

Firmly, she explained to the swamis that they were never again to refer to ANY of her cubs as fake, or to cause them any sort of distress. "And I have FOUR cubs," she added fiercely.

Then Mum Lioness and Med Tiger and the cubses headed home to Bhagavan.

All the cubses tried to scamble up into his lap.
