the only miracle they needed or could ever need

In the morning, the cubses went for Bhagavan Ramana's Darshan. Med Tiger and Mum Lioness and several of the displaced creatures went too.

The cubses had been planning to ask Bhagavan about miracles ... why did some gurus talk about them so much, and claim to be able to perform them, and place so much importance on them, but Bhagavan never admitted to performing any at all ...

As they drew near him, though, their questions evaporated like mist in warm sunlight.

The true miracle, the only miracle they needed and could ever need, was the miracle of having been drawn to Bhagavan's beloved feet.

Omcub had had five questions ready for Bhagavan, and Arunacub had had eight, and Tirucub had had nine, and Spotty had had half a question .... but all 22 1/2 of these questions had melted in the warmth of Bhagavan's beautiful smile, and they could not remember anything about the questions, or even that they had planned to ask them.

Unable to help themselves, they drew closer and closer to Bhagavan until they were almost touching his mane.

Spotty, completely unable to hold back, dipped his sweet head down and kissed first Bhagavan's right foot and then his left. Like the others, he had heard that Bhagavan did not encourage or even necessarily allow such things, but it could not be helped. Bhagavan must have known this, or perhaps he made exceptions for six month old leopard cubs, because he only smiled.

The cubses were unaware that very nearby, a small goat was peeking through some greenery.

It was Flora. She had intended to do some useful spying, and report back to SwamiMiracleAnanda, but something totally unexpected was happening.

Her gaze fell on Bhagavan, and in that instant, she understood the true meaning of the word miracle. She forgot her mission, she forgot SwamiMiracleAnanda, she forgot herself.

Quietly, she inched forward.

Spotty's profound question for his cub brudders

Hi Tiru, Arunachala and Om dearests,

I sort of know the answer to this question, but i still don't know the answer. I really want to hear it from you all. All three of you, each answer this question to me. okay?

The queschun is: why is there suffering in this world? why are people so unhappy? Every time I see people in pain, this queschun hits me, and knocks me off my four paws.

Also, why can't people see the truth about Bhagavan? Why does not everyone see and feel and experience the grace of God ? Why isn't everyone in love with Bhagavan?
I mean, really.

-- Love, Dr. Spotty (but just brudder Spotty to you)

Looking back two years ...

It was on the night of July 31st, that Bhagavan's name "Ramana Maharshi" kept repeating in my mind. I had no idea who it was. I resolved as I lay in bed, the name repeating in my mind, to find out the nest moahning.

The nest day I sorched for "ramana maharshi" and came to the ramanasramam website. Bhagavan's picture was there, looking at me.

I looked into those eyeses, and knew somehow that these were the eyeses i was meant to look into in this life. These were the eyeses that would save me, deliver me, whatever that meant. I knew then that my life was no longer in my hands, the one who was to carry it through was here. I knew then who had been holding my hand all along, for many many boaths before this one too.

I finally knew who my real father was, and thus who I was. It was, and remains, the grandest discovery of mine of this life, the most beautiful thing i have ever seen.

For me that moment was my moment of birth; that day, my birthday. Only when I looked into the eyes of my Beloved Lord, and He said "You are mine", was i really born.

Since that day, he has brought me up all over again, teaching me how to live and love, not only through his own example, but also by silent guidance that happens in a state of surrender and deep love, and also through eye-to-eye contact, and surely other ways that i would never know. Teaching me to know that all living beings are the Beloved Lord, and no different from myself. Teaching me that everyone, no matter what, is worthy of His love, and is loved at all times, no matter what we may believe.

The Rhino on the stroller

anonymous said...
Today morning, Nayana asked Bhagavan to tell them the story of the african devotees (who had come in his absence).

(i will narrate the story as best as i can remember)

Bhagavan: Last year, a couple from Africa had visited. They brought a pet along. People came running to me asking what is this animal as large as an elifink, with one huge hoahn in front.

I told them it must be a rhinoresus.

They were all pleased to know that it had a name, and Bhagavan knew about it. It was vegiterannean i told them. so don't be afraid.

Later the africans went visiting foahtha down south for a week and left the rhino in the ashram. It was looking for its owners all over, and frightening visitors.

Then one day it came into the hall. It came straight to me and put its head down as best as it could, making sure its hoahn did not come close to me.

It looked into my eyes, and asked 'where are my owners?'
I looked at him and told him they have gone for a week and should be back any day.

Hearing this he seemed pleased and at peace, and bowing his head again, toahned gently, and walked out of the hall with minimum distoahbuns.

He sat quietly near the cow shed, meditating and eating iddlies and sambar and bananas, behaving very well.

Later his owners came, fed him chocos, tucked him into a baby stroller, put a pacifier in his mouth, and took him away.

Then Bhagavan had that far away look in His eyeses. I sat wondering who this rhino really was and how lucky to get a darshan of Bhagavan. Surely he will be a human in his next boahth, and be a staunch devotee of Bhagavan.
